3D Imaging

3D Imaging

Unlike a traditional spiral medical CT scanner, the i-CAT 3DFLEX scanner uses cone beam CT technology to provide precise, crystal clear digital images while minimizing exposure to radiation. This technology enables Dr. Banks to image the bones and soft tissues of the face and jaws when planning treatment for procedures that involve the bone and related structures of the head and neck.

Some conditions where Dr. Banks may utilize 3D imaging may include:

  • Trauma to the face and jaws and teeth
  • Assessment of bone quality and quantity for dental implant and bone grafting surgery
  • Planning RevitaliZe® treatment
  • Evaluation of severely impacted teeth
  • Assessment of the jaws for corrective jaw surgery
  • Evaluation of the airway for obstructive sleep apnea
  • Determining the location and extent of pathology in the bones of the face and jaws
  • Evaluation of the sinuses
  • Evaluation of the temporomandibular joints

Dr. Banks uses several different software digital planning software programs. These programs may be used to plan the placement of dental implants, plan corrective jaw surgery and for the fabrication of patient specific joint replacements and prosthesis. Computer-fabricated surgical guides allow for guided surgery, which minimizes operating time, ensures maximum precision, and improves patient outcomes.

There is no need to make a second appointment for a scan, and you don’t need to go outside the office to a mobile imaging van. 3D scans are performed right in Dr. Banks’s office by her well trained staff. Once the scan is completed, Dr. Banks will review the scan with you that same visit, and discuss treatment options. Dr. Banks can easily share your digital images electronically, enhancing communication with your referring doctor, and leading to better care for you.
